Andrea, hi friend, hi friend. And to the brave hearts listening out there. Welcome to permission to be human. I'm Andrea and I'm Janelle. Get ready for some real time relationship. Woo and wisdom from the front lines with occasional tantrums and tears about
Andrea Enright 0:15
how breaking rules, blurring boundaries and tossing tradition can be catalysts for finding your truth.
Janelle Orion 0:20
Let's debunk the fairy tales we were told as children and create a new map for life. Yes, Disney can go fuck itself if you're seeking permission to choose your own path. Freedom is the new F word. People and want to feel less alone along the way,
Andrea Enright 0:34
we got you. Please note, this is our side of the story. Our partners and metamours have their own individual experiences, and we do not speak for them.
Janelle Orion 0:50
Hello,
Andrea Enright 0:52
Hi Andrea, hi Janelle And
Janelle Orion 0:55
hi bravehearts. This episode is about what we do, what our vision is, and how you are part of that vision, and most importantly, if our vision aligns with your vision, then we invite you to support us in bringing it to life.
Andrea Enright 1:15
Yeah, and everyone benefits. So we're going to start off just by hearing a testimonial from one of our brave hearts. And I think this really captures why we do the podcast, why we love expressing, why we love externally, processing why we want to help others less feel feel less alone. So this testimonial comes from a friend of mine, Christiana,
Janelle Orion 1:43
I learn something every time I listen, which is every week, and whenever I give myself permission to do something, I imagine the two of you cheering me on in the background your podcast helps me be more comfortable being myself.
Andrea Enright 1:56
Mic drop, yeah. Helps her be more comfortable being herself, yeah?
Janelle Orion 2:02
And that is what's so it like, lights me up, yeah? Listening. Re hearing this, talking to her about this, because that's what I want in the world, people feeling comfortable being themselves. Me
Andrea Enright 2:14
too. That hit like that really lands for me. It's like, okay, oh, we're doing the right thing. We're like in our radiance, it feels good. So who are we? Sort of review, we are Janelle Orion and Andrea Enright, two midlife Maverick women who were raised with Catholicism Disney and Hollywood and believed at least a little bit in fairy tales and forever, we were taught to follow the rules, fit in, follow the script and avoid divorce like the plague, but something inside us pulled to question everything about midlife, and suddenly we found ourselves with No Map, no template, and so we supported each other, and then we started this podcast. And who are you?
Janelle Orion 3:06
Our podcast listeners and bravehearts. What's the Braveheart? You ask someone who is seeking or has found the courage to face their fears and limiting beliefs about breaking societal norms. And
Andrea Enright 3:21
guess what? There is no one way to be a Braveheart. Whew, that's a big one for me too. There is no right way, no wrong way, no one way. We all have our own unique version of societal, religion and family conditioning that taught us things we should or shouldn't do. For some of us, being a Braveheart might mean moving away from a small town, leaving the family religion, not taking over the family business, loving someone of the same sex, becoming a different sex, being polyamorous,
Janelle Orion 3:51
literally, the ways we are bravehearts is infinite, just like all of you. And the Braveheart journey is not about just one decision. There are many moments where we have to face our fears and limiting beliefs on this journey. Yes,
Andrea Enright 4:07
and I have been through it. We have been through it. Perhaps you have Unspoken desires that are like waiting just beneath your skin. Maybe you're struggling with a relationship or a friendship. You're learning to ask for what you want. You want to feel more alive and free.
Janelle Orion 4:27
For me, Janelle, as a result of my Braveheart journey, I feel wildly alive, self expressed brave. I trust in My pleasure. Have greater permission to be myself. I'm radiant, joyful. I've learned to ask for what I want. I honor both the feminine and the masculine within myself, and I am connected to the divine.
Andrea Enright 4:51
That sounds beautiful and Andrea, how does being a Braveheart feel to you? It feels like a surrender to reality, in a way. Yeah, that may be counterintuitive, but it feels like facing my truest self. It's absolutely excruciating, fucking heartbreaking, full of loss, grief and confusion. So why do I do it? Because eventually it has always led me to feeling more free and more authentically myself. This is why we call ourselves bravehearts. If you need examples, that's what I'd want like for me, it's choosing to have only one child. It's moving to Costa Rica. It's allowing myself to take a nap. Like, that's such a small thing that I realized I don't know, a while back, I'm like, oh, oh, I allow myself to do that. Now that was not a thing for many, many years, joining the Peace Corps at age 30, mod podging My living room wall with book pages, wearing cowboy boots wherever I want, showing a lot of skin and cleavage whenever I want, small things and big things,
Janelle Orion 6:00
absolutely and what about you listeners? What does being a Braveheart feel like to you? We're gonna give you a moment to reflect on that. Put your hand on your heart, wherever you are listening to this, close your eyes, as long as you're not driving and take a couple of deep breaths. Inhale through the nose and exhale. Scan your body. What do you notice? There is no right answer. Here. We are simply giving you a moment to be with yourself and reflect on your own brave journey.
Andrea Enright 6:46
And that leads us to what Janelle And I do on this podcast is talk vulnerably and transparently about the topics that, for whatever reason, are sometimes considered taboo to talk about in public or maybe in your family or around your friends or with you or with your partner, the topics that are whispered kept locked away, sometimes just beneath the skin, whether by shame, guilt, denial, whatever it could Be, pleasure, intimacy, relationships, marriage, divorce, money, purpose, libido, polyamory, orgasms, menopause, self, pleasure, and lots of other things that may seem like not that big of a deal. Yeah, and
Janelle Orion 7:33
with those topics, you can see our brave hearts are both men and women. Absolutely right. All of us have challenges and limiting beliefs that we're navigating in this lifetime, and our goal is simply to give you greater permission to listen to your heart, to find your pleasure, claim yourself, draw a boundary or break out of the cage of cultural conditioning and to know that you are not alone on this journey.
Andrea Enright 8:08
So that is why we started the podcast. But what is our vision? What is the future? We believe there have always been brave hearts, but we didn't always know how to find each other. Our goal is to create a global community of Bravehearts, people willing to trust themselves, their hearts and their truth. Our experience has been the more we've come home to ourselves, the more free we feel. And when people feel free, they want to help others feel free too.
Janelle Orion 8:41
And how are we gonna do that? There are five ways we are both writing books. My book is feel wildly alive, embracing pleasure, intimacy and consent as a path towards freedom and fulfilling relationships. Imagine The Artist's Way for erotic wellness, yay. I teach the basic education and foundational skills I learned about my body, my pleasure and my communication that has led me to feeling more wildly alive. You've heard me talk a lot about these skills on this podcast,
Andrea Enright 9:15
so you're getting an insider's tip already. Yeah, exactly. And then it'll be in book format. Yes, I'm writing a book too. I did just publish a chat book called 100 days of Haiku. We will feature it soon on Instagram, but it is a documentation of these 100 days where I wrote a haiku every day in 2023 and 2024 I love, love doing a daily thing like that. I love the structure and the predictability of it, and it was a beautiful creative outlet for me. I'm also writing a memoir about the weird and wise decisions I've made across my life and how they had led me to freedom. It's broken into three sections, Glory HO which is inspired by a passage from East of Eden and is in the spirit of my departure for the Peace Corps at age 30. I. Second part is glory home, which is inspired by the birthing of my child, a yoga training and finding the mundane in the magic of householding. And finally, Glory me, inspired by a homecoming to myself, including polyamory, the rise of my business and my year in Costa Rica title TBD, but very excited about expressing
Janelle Orion 10:23
Yay. I can't wait to read it.
Andrea Enright 10:27
We're both beginning to speak a lot as well, and really loving expressing our message to so many people at once. I'm speaking at Ignite this week. It's an event in Denver where I'm gonna speak for five minutes on how polyamory led me to bougie personal growth,
Janelle Orion 10:45
and starting to look into ever events as well, including right now listen to your mother unsent and mortified. We're also hosting in real life, Braveheart conversations, which you've heard us mentioned a lot. Those are happening every month here at the goddess temple. We've also just launched our first online version of those, and in those we ceremony, we exchange, we get personal. You have the opportunity to ask inquiries, and we offer insights, and then open up the discussion to the group. And then a couple times a year, we're hosting Braveheart retreats here at the goddess temple, and these are an area for women to come and leave feeling connected to sisterhood, feeling nourished, recharged, and with greater capacity to do all the things that they do in their daily life. So where does that leave us? My reality is that I've invested all the money and resources that I have into my own becoming and in the goddess temple. The Goddess temple is where we record the podcast and host these Braveheart conversations and retreats. It's my home, and it's a gathering place for people who want to grow and transform. And I've come to realize that I can no longer support the goddess temple by myself. I need help, and asking for help is vulnerable and scary and something that a brave heart would do. And so I'm walking my own talk.
Andrea Enright 12:13
I love that. Yeah, that's big. So if you want to invest in permission about doing relationships, intimacy, career and life your way, if you want to invest in the liberation and empowerment of bravehearts worldwide, if you want to invest in a guarantee that we keep talking out loud to all of you every week, or invest in a legacy of open communication and freedom for The future of our society.
